Divinity

Mor’Thal is home to swathe of divine beings. They each rule over different domains or areas of the mortal realm. Divine history pre-dates time-keeping on Mor’Thal so much of their history has faded into apocryphal tales.

Originally, only The Brightmother and her brothers Cator and Gavel; retroactively called the Judgement Triad ruled over Mor’Thal. However, as mortal life progressed and presented new challenges for the three; select mortals were elevated to godly status.

See Story of Origin for the full creation myth of Mor’Thal.

Triads are a naturally occurring mechanism between the Gods. They are more-or-less an informal grouping of domains but some Triads are much more rigid. The Gods have settled on the Triad mechanism to keep the number of gods involved in any one occurrence to a maximum of three. For this reason; 3 is a lucky number in many cultures on Mor’Thal.

Triads are defined by roles or Aspects and might not be an exact match to the associated Deity’s domain.

The Judgement Triad is made up of the Aspects of Rule, Defence, and Forgiveness.

The Aspect of Rule defines laws and enforces their upkeep. The Aspect of Defence provides mortals ways to defend their actions and consequences for failing to do so, and the Aspect of Forgiveness provides successful mortals with a sense of closure over the process.

Defence does not have to mean via combat although that is a popular method, it has been recorded that certain Mortals have defended themselves with apologies and acknowledgement of fault.

The Fortune Triad is an example of a much more loosely bound Triad. Formed from the Aspects of Faith, Surprise, and Cruelty to teach mortals to expect the unexpected and to stay resilient.

These Aspects work very independently from one-another; mostly because their associated deities don’t like each other very much, but also to avoid any favouritism or bias with good and bad fortunes.

Formed from the Aspects of Passion, Dedication, and Ideals; their role is to empower mortals with the strength to preserve through hard times and achieve greatness.

The Willpower Triad is another example of a looser triad where the individual Aspects work separately to handle different circumstances rather than as a larger group.

Each of the Gods have delegated parts of their domain to various beings of their creation or tutelage. While still being quite powerful; and definitely more powerful than most mortals could even fathom, they are a clear rung below the Divine Beings.

Santa Claus

A loyal Paladin of his, Nicharus, was elevated to godly status and tasked with spreading the joy of Christmas.
