Session 007
Following the encounter with the Arindor men on the way to the Dwarven Excavation, The Bussy Knights regrouped and comforted Mike Hawk about the loss of his father.
The party investigated the inside of the carriage left behind by the fallen zombie men.
Lamoira felt especially bad about landing the killing blow on Dixon Normus and used unknown magics to weave the remaining ashes of the barbarian into the metal of one of her daggers creating The Ashen Shortsword.
Lamoira gifted the weapon to Mike Hawk before investigating the carriage herself, alone
As the rest of the party were climbing back onto their own carriage to get back onto the road, they felt a wave of dizziness and confusion come over them. Leodel had some familiarity with this experience but could not shake it and shortly after that, the party forgot Lamoira ever existed. As far as the party was concerned at the time, they had only ever been a party of six people.
The rest of the journey towards the Dwarven Excavation was uneventful. As the party arrived at the opening into the tunnel down towards the dig site - they noticed a loud and powerful roar come from near Umbrage Hill - from the distance they could just make out that it was likely the Roaming White Dragon that has caused havoc in the region. Alberic decided to climb to the top of the mountain using his athleticism and sheer skill in record time - while the rest of the party waited for him to return before descending into the excavation together.
The tunnel lead the party to another opening at the mouth of a caved-in canyon - the only prominent feature here being the large gates open if front of them. The party investigated briefly before passing through into the next area behind the gates; finding a ruined settlement long lost to time. Nothing of value was found here so the party moved forward - seeing signs of people living up ahead, as well as two life-sized granite statues of cloaked dwarves with evil grins on their faces.
The party ran into Dazlyn; a proper but forthright dwarven commoner (they/she), and Norbus; a gruff and overly cautious dwarven man (he/him). The dwarves explain that this is believed to be a fallen temple of Abathor; the dwarven god of greed. The party establish that the two dwarves are the excavators who’ve been working here for months and that they are yet to find anything of value. The party warn them of the dragon and implored them to return to town with them but the dwarves protest they’re safe enough and don’t need more help than the warning. They offer the party work clearing out the unexplored rooms of the temple from the Ochre Jellies they’ve seen before and pledge to reward them with a pair of Sending Stones and half of all the future findings if the temple is successfully cleared out.
The party pondered their offer and accepted, pending a long rest to recover from the earlier trip. During the night, Leodel was pinged by The Never-Ending Letter and ventured off to read the updates. Dagult Neverember mentioned the name “Lamoira” and Leodel’s memories of Lamoira came flooding back to him for a short time. Dagult apologised for The Contact’s methods but confirmed that he no longer needed Leodel to acquire Lamoira for him any longer.
The rest of the party awoke and all begun to remember Lamoira themselves - although nobody seemed to really mind (DM’s Note: LOL). The party continued on and entered into the main chamber that Dazlyn and Norbus had encountered one Ochre Jelly previously. Upon entering the chamber, lighting torches for those without Darkvision - they encountered and combatted two Ochre Jellies. Norbus got a little too eager for combat and ended up falling unconscious, although Dazlyn was able to recover him with a health potion. The two dwarves retreated from any further combat situations.
The party began investigating the walls of the chamber where Fill Werrell and Salvador managed to find two secret doors leading to the south and eastern sections of the chambers respectively. Salvador and Alberic heard movement from the eastern chamber and closed the door behind them - attempting to avoid another battle. The party followed down the southern door that Fill Werrell found - finding gold and component pouches along the way. The chamber they found lead to a cave in that looked to potentially lead towards the tunnel Salvador and Alberic closed off earlier. There was nothing else of value in this chamber so they headed back towards the central chamber.
The door that Salvador and Alberic had closed was now smashed in and the party ended up slaying another Ochre Jelly - before it could do any harm and headed down towards the chamber. Identifying 3 pathways they could head down. The northern path heading in a direction they had completely unexplored before, a southern path that could potentially link up with the caved in sections they visited earlier, and the eastern path that was entirely caved in - potentially heading deeper into the temple.
